Minimally invasive Laser Frenectomies for children and adults

Many times, a frenectomy is needed during or after orthodontic treatment so that the frenum will no longer pull the upper teeth apart. The laser frenectomy is a very quick procedure that requires only local anesthetic. There is also very minimal downtime associated with the laser frenectomy.

Dr. Primm uses a state-of-the-art laser to help kids and adults who are tongue-tied or lip-tied by performing a quick, minimally invasive laser procedure called a frenectomy—the releasing of the frenum. The frenum is tissue that attaches the tongue to the floor of the mouth or the upper lip to the gum. Using his laser, Dr. Primm quickly and gently releases the frenum and restores free movement of the tongue or lip.

Dr. Primm’s laser frenectomy does not require any sutures or sedation. It typically lasts under 5 minutes and causes very little to no discomfort.
